Lesley Caldwell, 'Donald Winnicott, Melanie Klein and the shape of post-war psychoanalysis'

In this paper I will discuss the theoretical differences that opened up between Donald Winnicott and Melanie Klein from the late forties and suggest they are to be read in the light of their earlier close relationship, the continuing repercussions of the Controversial Discussions in the British Society of the fifties and sixties, and the overlap of personal and institutional connections that distinguishes psychoanalytic institutes.
