Lucia Conti, 'The Lacanian Subject and the Field of the Other'

In his return to the work of Freud in the fifties, Lacan argued that the subject is born in the field of the Other. Furthermore, he defined the unconscious as the discourse of the Other. How can what is most personal to a subject be defined as the discourse of someone or something else? This seminar-talk will address some ideas concerning the subject in its double relation or alienation to the ‘small other’ of the mirror and to the ‘big Other’ of language.
