This session will be an introduction to W. R. Bion's work on small groups, starting
from his experiences in childhood and through two World Wars to the Tavistock
Centre. These experiences stimulated his interest in unconscious emotional
processes in groups - how they bond, how they behave and how they are led. Links
will be made to the functioning of organisations and some limitations of his theory
will be discussed. Reference will be made to his book Experiences in Groups.
